Amman Heritage Committee Conducts Field Visit to Monitor Development Projects at the Citadel

The Amman Heritage Committee, chaired by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Yazan Al-Khudair, conducted a comprehensive field visit to the Amman Citadel site. He was accompanied by the Director-General of the Department of Antiquities, Dr. Fawzi Abu Danah, and the Deputy City Director for Public Works at the Greater Amman Municipality, Engineer Nabil Al-Jariri, along with several specialists.

The visit aimed to monitor the progress of proposed development projects and explore ways to include the city’s archaeological sites on the World Heritage List.

During the inspection tour, Al-Khudair stressed the importance of effective coordination to ensure that development projects support the protection of the site’s archaeological value.

Dr. Abu Danah presented the results of archaeological excavations at the Citadel site, underscoring the Department’s central role in supervising all works.

Engineer Al-Jariri explained that the municipality is conducting a comprehensive urban study of the Citadel’s surroundings.

Detailed plans for proposed tourism trail developments were presented, aiming to connect the Citadel with the city center and the Roman Theater.

In a related effort, Secretary-General Yazan Al-Khudair, accompanied by Dr. Fawzi Abu Danah, conducted an inspection visit to the Citadel and the Jordanian Archaeological Museum to review the quality of tourism services.
