Minister of Tourism and Antiquities and President of the Fes-Meknes Region Inaugurate the Jordanian-Moroccan Exhibition of Traditional Industries and Crafts in Amman

The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Emad Hijazeen, and the President of the Fes-Meknes Region of Morocco, Abdelouahed El Ansari, inaugurated the Jordanian-Moroccan Exhibition of Traditional Industries and Crafts on Saturday. The event was held in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Culture, Dr. Nidal Al-Ahmad; the Moroccan Ambassador to Jordan, Fouad Akhrif; the Deputy President of the Regional Council and Chair of the Exhibition Organizing Committee, Khadija Hajoubi; as well as a number of MPs, dignitaries, and ambassadors.

The exhibition, held at Al-Hussein Youth City in the capital, Amman, runs from January 24 to 30. It is organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in partnership with the Fes-Meknes Region and the Moroccan Ministry of Tourism, Traditional Industry, Social Economy, and Solidarity.

Minister Hijazeen said: “Our meeting today is an investment in the present and the future. Cultural heritage constitutes one of the pillars of national identity, a fundamental element for sustainable local development, and a living economic resource capable of generating employment, empowering communities, and enhancing their resources, especially in rural and peripheral areas. This is what we must encourage and support.”

He added: “At the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, we recognize that cultural and community tourism has become a comprehensive experience where the visitor engages with people and their values. Linking traditional crafts to the tourist experience contributes to enriching the tourism product and transforms the craft from a static display into a story.”

For his part, El Ansari expressed pride in the launch of this exhibition, describing it as the result of a year-long joint effort that reflects the deep ties between Jordan and Morocco.

In a speech delivered on behalf of the Minister of Culture, Secretary-General Dr. Al-Ahmad said that this exhibition confirms that culture continues to be a solid bridge for communication between peoples.

Moroccan Ambassador to Jordan, Fouad Akhrif, expressed his gratitude to the organizing parties for their outstanding cultural effort and the profound civilizational messages conveyed by the exhibition.

Hajoubi said the dream of holding the exhibition in Jordan has become a tangible reality, praising the significant support provided by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the efforts of both the Jordanian and Moroccan embassies.

The exhibition aims to enhance cultural and economic cooperation, highlight intangible cultural heritage, and support cooperatives and artisans. It welcomes visitors daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
