Specialized Symposium Opens on the Historical Narrative of the Treasury Facade in Petra

Amman - On behalf of the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, the Director-General of the Department of Antiquities, Dr. Fawzi Abu Danneh, inaugurated on Monday a specialized symposium titled "The Historical Narrative Based on Excavations, Archaeological Finds, and Authoritative Historical References – The Treasury Facade in Petra."

The event was organized by the Jordanian Tour Guides Association and saw the attendance of a distinguished group of experts, researchers, tour guides, and representatives from entities concerned with tourism and archaeological affairs.

The symposium aims to enhance accurate scientific knowledge among tour guides and to unify the informational discourse and historical narrative based on scientific evidence and reliable references. This contributes to providing a rich and trustworthy tourist experience for visitors to the Kingdom's archaeological sites, foremost among them the Rose City of Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of global significance.

During the symposium, Dr. Abu Danneh discussed the history of Petra and the key findings of archaeological excavations there.

Participants including Dr. Hani Falahat reviewed the history of the Nabataean Kingdom and its civilizational role in the region, while Sami Al-Nawafleh addressed the excavation of "Al-Khazneh" (The Treasury) and its archaeological and historical importance.
